Scanning Tickets at the Gate
Use the QR code scanner to validate tickets at entry points quickly and accurately.
Before You Begin
- Make sure you're logged in and have selected your event.
- You must have the Volunteer role for this event.
- Your device needs a working camera. Make sure Maestro has camera permissions enabled in your device settings.
Selecting a Ticket Type
- From the volunteer home screen, tap Scan Tickets.
- Choose the ticket type you're scanning for: Admission, Parking, or Other.
- The camera viewfinder will open with a crosshair reticle in the center.
Scanning a Ticket
- Point your device at the customer's ticket QR code and align it within the crosshair.
- The app will scan automatically - no need to tap a button.
- You'll see one of these results:
- Valid (green) - The ticket is good. Let the customer in.
- Invalid (red) - The ticket isn't recognized or has already been used. The error message will explain why. Direct the customer to the ticket sales area or check with your coordinator.
- After each scan, tap Continue to immediately start the next scan, or wait 3 seconds and the scanner will reset on its own. This lets you scan at your own pace - tap Continue to move quickly through a line, or let it auto-reset when things are slower.
Scanner Tools
- Flashlight - Tap the flashlight icon in the top corner to toggle your device's flash on or off. Helpful in dim lighting.
- Manual entry - If a QR code won't scan, tap the manual entry icon to type in the ticket code using your keyboard.
Tip: If the scanner isn't recognizing codes, make sure your camera lens is clean and that Maestro has camera permissions. See Barcode Scanner Not Working for more help.
