Locking Your Scores

Locking Your Scores

Understand what score locking means, how to finalize your scores, and what happens after they're locked.

Before You Begin

What Score Locking Means

Locking is an optional step that tells the event host you're finished adjusting scores for a caption. Once locked, you can no longer edit those scores in the app. This is a workflow you and the event host should establish beforehand - some hosts may ask judges to lock after every performance, while others may handle it differently.

Your scores are already visible on the host dashboard as soon as you save them. Locking simply signals "I'm done" and prevents accidental changes.

How to Lock Your Scores

  1. From your caption's registration list, tap the lock button (the circular button at the bottom of the screen).
  2. You'll see a confirmation screen explaining that all submitted scores will be locked and no further edits will be allowed.
  3. Press and hold the lock button for two seconds. A countdown will display as you hold.
  4. Once the countdown finishes, you'll see a success animation confirming your scores are locked.

After locking, each score field will display a small lock icon and can no longer be edited.

Can I Unlock My Scores?

You cannot unlock scores yourself once they're locked. If you locked in error or need to make a correction, contact the event host through the app's chat or by other means. Only event administrators can unlock scores.

Important: Double-check your scores before locking. Once locked, only the event host can unlock them for editing.

What Happens After Locking

The event host can see which scores you've locked on their dashboard. Once all judges for a caption have locked their scores, the host can finalize the recap and release results. Registrants will receive a notification when scores are available, depending on the host's release schedule.
