Setting Up Scoring Rounds

Scoring rounds represent the different stages of competition at your event, such as Prelims, Semi-Finals, or Finals. Each scoring round uses a scoring system and has its own set of performing groups.

Viewing Scoring Rounds

The scoring rounds page displays a table with the following columns:

  • Reorder arrows for changing the display order
  • Name - The round name
  • # Performing Groups - How many groups are assigned. If no groups are assigned yet, an "Add groups" link appears that opens the edit modal.
  • Scoring Template Based On - The scoring system used for this round

Creating a Scoring Round

  1. Click Add New Scoring Round.
  2. A modal opens with two tabs to complete:

Tab 1: Choose Scoring System

Select the scoring system this round will use from the searchable list. Each item shows the system name, icon, and description. You can search by name or description.

If you need a new system, click Create new scoring system at the bottom of the list to go to the scoring system builder.

Important: Once a scoring round is created, its scoring system cannot be changed. Make sure you select the correct one before proceeding.

Tab 2: Select Performing Groups

Check the boxes next to each accepted registrant you want to include in this round. Each entry shows the organization name and group name.

  1. Click Create when ready.

Editing a Scoring Round

Click the pencil icon on any round to open the edit modal. When editing, you can change:

  • Name - The round name (for example, "Prelims").
  • Scoring System - Displayed as read-only; this cannot be changed after creation.
  • Show Performance Classes - Toggle whether scoring recaps include performance class groupings. On by default.
  • Allow Judges to View Unreleased Scores - If enabled, judges can view the full scoring recap for this round before scores are released. On by default.
  • Performing Groups - Check or uncheck groups to add or remove them from the round.

Click Save to apply changes.

Reordering Scoring Rounds

Use the up and down arrow icons in the table to change the order of scoring rounds.

Deleting a Scoring Round

Click the trash icon to delete a round. A confirmation dialog will appear warning that any scores, commentary, awards, or other data entered for this scoring round will also be deleted.

You must type the exact name of the scoring round to confirm deletion.

Caution: Deleting a scoring round permanently removes all associated scores, commentary, and awards. This action cannot be undone.
