Tabulation
The Tabulation page is where you monitor scores in real time as judges enter them, view the scoring recap, and release scores to registrants. Scores refresh automatically every 10 seconds.
Selecting a Scoring Round
Use the Scoring Round dropdown at the top to choose which round to view. If you have no scoring rounds defined, a link to the scoring rounds page is shown.
Reading the Recap
The scoring recap is a table that displays all scores organized by performing group. The columns are structured based on your scoring system: caption groups at the top level, captions below them, and sub-captions at the lowest level. Each row represents one performing group.
The recap includes running totals at the caption, caption group, and overall levels, calculated automatically based on your scoring system's multipliers, divisors, and other settings.
Visual Indicators
The recap uses visual patterns to communicate score states:
- Locked score - A diagonal stripe pattern indicates the judge has locked (finalized) their score for that sub-caption.
- Overridden score - A different pattern indicates an administrator has manually entered or overridden a score.
- Caption dropped - A crosshatch pattern indicates this caption was dropped due to the caption group's Drop High or Drop Low setting.
- Caption hidden - A rectangle pattern indicates the caption is set to hidden and won't appear in published recaps.
A legend at the bottom of the page explains each visual pattern.
Display Options
Use the checkboxes above the recap to toggle display options:
- Freeze group names - Keeps the group name column fixed while scrolling horizontally through the recap.
- Show ordinals - Displays the rank position for each group within each caption group and overall. Turning this on automatically turns off performance ratings.
- Show performance ratings - Displays qualitative labels (such as Superior or Excellent) if your scoring system defines them. Turning this on automatically turns off ordinals.
Editing a Score
Click on any sub-caption cell in the recap to manually enter or override a score. The Edit Score modal shows:
- The ensemble name, caption group, caption, and sub-caption being edited.
- The judge's current score (if submitted) and whether it's locked.
- The maximum value and precision for the sub-caption.
- An input field for the new score.
Enter a value and click Save. Leaving the field blank and saving will clear any manual override. Scores entered here override judge submissions and are marked with the "overridden" visual indicator in the recap.
Editing a Caption
Click on a caption header in the recap to open the Edit Caption modal, where you can:
- Assign a judge - Choose from a dropdown of active judges, or select "Not assigned" to remove the assignment.
- Hidden (individual captions only) - Toggle whether the caption is hidden from published recaps and the Marching Maestro app. Only captions that do not count towards the total score can be hidden.
Click Save to apply changes.
Releasing Scores
Use the Release scores toggle next to the scoring round selector to make scores visible to registrants. When you turn it on, a confirmation modal appears:
"Are you sure you want to release scores for [Round Name]? A notification will be sent to registrants and their staff through the Marching Maestro app, where scores will be available to view."
Click Release Scores to confirm. You can toggle scores off again at any time to hide them from registrants.
Printing the Recap
Click View Printable Recap to open a print-friendly version of the recap in a new tab. The printable version respects your current ordinal and performance rating display settings.
Sharing the Recap
When scores are released, a Share Recap button appears. Click it to get a shareable link to the public recap page on your event website.
Viewing Award Winners
Click View Award Winners to open a modal showing the current award winners based on the entered scores. This uses the awards you've configured on the Awards page.
