Understanding Your Role
Maestro gives you a personalized experience based on your role at an event, whether you're a registrant, judge, or volunteer.
Tip: Most users will likely only have one role assigned to them for any given event.
How Roles Work
When your event organizer sets up an event in Marching Maestro, they assign each person one or more roles. The app automatically detects your roles and adjusts what you see on the home screen.
There are three roles in Maestro:
Registrant — You're attending or performing at the event. You can view scores, listen to judge commentary, check the schedule, and stay up to date with announcements.
Judge — You're adjudicating performances. You can score performances, record audio commentary, add notes, and manage your judging assignments.
Volunteer — You're helping run the event. You can sell tickets, scan tickets at the gate, sell concessions, accept donations, and even go live to stream the event.
What You'll See
After selecting your event, the home screen shows features specific to your role. A registrant sees scores and schedules, a judge sees their adjudication tools, and a volunteer sees ticketing and point-of-sale options. Each role has its own dedicated home screen so you only see what's relevant to you.
Switching Between Roles
Some people have more than one role at an event — for example, you might be both a volunteer and a registrant. If that's the case, you'll see a Role selector on the home screen.
- Tap the Role selector on the home screen.
- A menu titled My Roles will appear listing your available roles.
- Tap the role you want to switch to.
- The home screen will update to show features for that role.
If you only have one role at the event, the role selector won't appear — you'll go straight to your role-specific home screen.
What If My Role Is Wrong?
Your roles are assigned by your event organizer. If you think you're missing a role or have the wrong one, contact your event organizer to update your permissions. Once they make the change, pull to refresh or reopen the app to see the update.
