Using Chat
Stay connected with your event team through built-in chat channels in the Maestro app.
Before You Begin
- Make sure you've chosen your event and are on the home screen.
- Chat channels are set up by your event organizer. If you don't see any channels, your organizer may not have enabled chat for this event.
Opening Chat
- Tap the message icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
- You'll see a list of available chat channels for your event.
Chat Channels
Maestro uses channels - not direct messages - so conversations are organized by group. Depending on your role and the event setup, you may see:
- General - Open to everyone at the event.
- Registrant - For registrants only.
- Judge - For judges only.
- Volunteer - For volunteers only.
Each channel shows an icon indicating its type and an unread badge if there are new messages you haven't seen.
Sending and Reading Messages
- Tap a channel to open the conversation.
- Read through the messages from other participants.
- Type your message at the bottom of the screen and tap Send.
Unread Message Badges
The channel list shows the number of unread messages for each channel. If a channel has more than 10 unread messages, the badge will display 10+.
Tip: If you're already viewing a chat conversation, you won't receive duplicate push notifications for new messages in that same channel. The app is smart about not interrupting you when you're already reading along.
