Managing Streams

The Streams page is where you create and manage the live streams for your event. Marching Maestro uses Mux for video streaming infrastructure.

Streams List

The streams table shows your configured streams with:

  • Reorder arrows for changing the display order
  • The stream name
  • A Show Stream Info button to view streaming credentials
  • Edit (pencil) and receipt icons

Creating a Stream

  1. Click Add New Stream.
  2. Enter a Name for the stream (up to 50 characters). A character counter is shown.
  3. Complete the payment for the stream using the Stripe checkout form that appears. Each stream has a one-time setup fee.
  4. Once payment is confirmed, the stream is created.

Note: Creating a stream requires a one-time fee. The payment form appears directly in the modal after you enter the stream name.

Stream Info

Click Show Stream Info on any stream to view the streaming credentials and setup instructions. The modal has two tabs:

Marching Maestro App Tab

Provides links to download the Marching Maestro mobile app for iOS and Android, which can be used to broadcast the stream directly with just a couple of taps.

Custom Setup Tab

Displays the details needed to stream from external software (such as OBS). You can stream over RTMP or SRT:

  • Stream Key - The authentication key for your stream. Used for both RTMP and SRT.
  • RTMP URL - The standard RTMP streaming URL. Click the info icon next to it for the secure RTMPS URL if your software requires it.
  • SRT URL - The SRT streaming URL.
  • SRT Stream ID - Use your Stream Key.
  • SRT Passphrase - The passphrase for SRT streaming.

The Stream Key and SRT Passphrase have copy buttons so you can paste them into your streaming software.

Encoder Settings for Custom Streaming

If you stream with OBS or another encoder, check its video and audio settings before the event. The defaults in most software already match what we support.

  • Video codec: H.264. This is the default in OBS and most encoders. HEVC (H.265) only works if you are also streaming over SRT; over RTMP your software will show "Live" but viewers will see nothing.
  • Audio codec: AAC. This is the default in OBS and most encoders, and it is the audio format we support.
  • Keyframe interval: 2 seconds.
  • Bitrate: 3,500 kbps for 720p or 5,000 kbps for 1080p, and no more than half of your available upload speed.

Tip: Not sure? Leave your encoder on H.264 and AAC. Those defaults always work.

Editing a Stream

Click the pencil icon to edit a stream's name.

Reordering Streams

Use the up and down arrows to change the order of your streams.
